How to Tell if Your Food is Genetically Modified, Organic or Conventional

So I was starting my day this morning with a healthy bowl of Kashi cereal and Vanilla Silk, when I noticed a new label on the side of the carton that said, "GMO's? No thanks." I'm like, what's a GMO? Well, GMO is Genetically Modified Organisms. I have to say, I was pretty relieved that my Silk did not contain any harmful ingredients, but then I began to wonder...what else am I eating or drinking that has been genetically modified?
Probably a lot! I began to take a look in the fridge and pantry. I saw that there wasn't many foods even labeled that they were in fact GMO.
That's when I started researching on Google and YouTube and found that this is an ongoing problem, where there are Corporations out there like Monsanto, who are solely in business to Genetically Engineer Crops and Food for faster production and distribution. The problem, according to NaturalNews.com is that Monsanto is allegedly using harmful ingredients to mass produce what we consume. These harmful ingredients are possibly effecting how our digestive system is handling the GM foods, and as a result could be a benefactor to why so many people are suffering from poor health and health related diseases, such as high cholesterol, liver problems, Celiac Desease, digestive problems, and yes, even Cancer.
I for one am very concerned about what we have been consuming in our bodies, and what we have been allowing our children to consume as well.
I am just like many Mom's and Dad's out there, who for convenience sake have been consuming and feeding our girls GM products, including any and all fast food "Happy Meals". It's very daunting to me to think about having to change our whole way of eating, buying food, and if we can even afford to do so on such a strict budget.
Therefor, I am going to go on this experimental journey with all of my readers, who may be asking themselves the same questions and have similar concerns about what we are eating as a family. And what we can do about it, without breaking the bank!
Below is an article that will help us all to get a start on how to identify what foods are labeled organic and what produce numbers mean to tell if you are purchasing organic or GM.
Let the label reading commence! Get your reading glasses on at Target, Publix, Walmart or wherever you conveniently shop, and read those labels to see what YOU are consuming.
