This is scary to read, but a real eye opener as well. The main reason I chose to post this on my Blog is because I know so many friends and family who are or have suffered extremely from this years high pollen counts, allergens, and both viral and bacterial infections. Including our own family. It makes total sense to me that the air we breathe off from each other in a room is where we will pick up bacteria and viruses. I really want to vacuum like every day after reading this article though. A few tips I have learned to help keep allergens, bacteria, dust and dirt our of your home are; change your air filters in your house once every two months or as needed, dust, dust, dust, and yes even the ceiling fans, they can be the worst!, when you come home, remove your shoes and place them by the front door, don't track in all the nasty stuff onto your floor or carpet, bathe and brush your pets frequently to reduce pet dander, wash everything in hot water to kill dust mites and bacteria, change your clothes when you come indoors, wash your body and hair before you climb in bed (especially if you are prone to outdoor allergies because the pollen sticks to your hair and then you sleep in it all night). Change your pillow cases often. If you think of or know some more tips, please post them on my blog below!
Happy Spring!
Bacteria Counts Spike When We Are In The Room
Becky, I have really bad allergies and I do all of this so far. It's a help, but I need to get Mike to follow too. he doesn't have allergies so he doesn't automatically think of it. Another thing that has helped me ( pollen isn't my only enemy )was to get rid of all chemicals and fake scents in my home. I use natural cleaning supplies, soaps, laundry detergents and dish soaps. Natural candles and I don't wear perfume as well. I also have a couch cover I pull off and wash monthly, which is really great because company usually tracks in pollen and pet dander as well. My aunt has gotten me into Young Living products and just a spritz in the air and it kills everything and opens my airways.
